OPEC – the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries – was established in 1960 by the Five Founding Members consisting of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. Several additional oil-producing countries have subsequently joined including Qatar (1961), Indonesia and Libya (1962), United Arab Emirates (1967), Algeria (1969), Nigeria (1971), Ecuador (1973), and Angola (2007). anada] is an example of a Crown Corporation.
